WIT, CMCS sign deal to conduct SMS-based media surveys

Centre for Media and Communication Studies (CMCS) signed a partnership agreement with Workstation Information Technology (WIT) on December 23, 2009 (Wednesday) to introduce and conduct regular nationwide SMS-based media surveys.

CMCS Chairman Sohel Manzur and WIT CEO Shahidan Khurshed signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Main objective of the agreement is to get up-to-date rating of local TV and radio stations and programs including news, drama serial and other shows.

Under the deal, WIT is supposed to handle the technological part of the survey, while CMCS will handle the promotional and analytical parts of the planned media surveys.

WIT will dedicate a specific mobile number to receive SMS from the audiences. It will record and process the SMS from the audiences for technical analyses by CMCS.

CMCS, an independent non-profit organization established in March 2009, is dedicated towards enhancing capacity of the media people and institutions, besides conducting research, surveys, advocacy and awareness building activities.

WIT is a content providing company for mobile operators, which started its operations in January 2004.
