Innovision, CMCS sign deal to develop TV program on agriculture

Centre for Media and Communication Studies (CMCS) signed a contract with Innovision Consulting Private Ltd. on 19 July 2011 (Tuesday) to develop and broadcast a TV program on agriculture.

CMCS Chairman Sohel Manzur and Innovision Chairman Sadaruddin Imran signed the deal on behalf of their respective institutions.

The TV program was planned as a follow up of an earlier project of the two institutions aimed at developing media and communication tools to create awareness among farmers about the use of balanced fertilizer.

The interactive TV program is aimed at updating farmers with information they need to address the problems they face in day-to-day farming activities, focusing on problems, such as agriculture marketing, financing, storage etc., and improving the overall farming practices.

The program is expected to create a platform for interaction among farmers, agriculture experts, policymakers, input suppliers and others involved in the sector.

Based on an assessment study conducted under the earlier initiative, it is expected that the program to be viewed largely by the farmers and other stakeholders of the sector. Under the study, CMCS assessed the fertilizer usage habit and media habit of the farmers to develop media and communication tools targeting farmers.

The study found most farmers watching the popular TV programs on agriculture being run by different TV channels. As evidences, they also mentioned about certain contents of the TV programs, such as Hridoye Mati O Manush.
